Hollywood-quality DVD Video Encoding

Visible Light Digital has participated on many commercially distributed DVD titles. Most of our clients have a beautiful master and want the resultant DVD to have as good quality as possible. That is easier said than done!

During video compression, a lot of information must be discarded. This is necessary to be able to distribute two hours on a disk. MPEG2 is highly compressed, but it retains sufficient quality for the imperfections to be generally acceptable.

You can improve or harm the picture quality merely by selecting the wrong encoder. There is a substantial difference in encoder quality. Some encoders do not do well when there is motion or a scene change. When it is important for your viewers to see excellent-quality DVD video and not fuzzy-wuzzy video with lots of visible blocking, optimization is your key to eternal happiness.

Think about how ideal it would be to have your beautiful source video encoded with such high-quality optimization that each scene is analyzed several times and then encoded differently based upon the analysis. The result is outstanding video quality compared to other encoders.

Visible Light provides encoding services that maximize the quality of the sound and video picture. We use the Cinema Craft Encoder SP3 for offline encoding of MPEG2 assets for DVD distribution. Cinema Craft Encoder SP3 has the same CCX engine used to encode many Hollywood DVD titles. It is like taming a wild horse and MPEG is a bucking bronco.

As Orlando's top MPEG compressionist, Steve is an expert at the wheel of the encoder. No job goes out without an inside screening and we are not an encoder mill that just pushes a job through in an emergency. We may charge a bit more than mister cheapo encoderman, but sometimes adjustments do take time. You want that!

Working with Visible Light Digital for DVD video encoding is easy. Just provide us with your master movie file in a supported AVI, Quicktime or Quicktime-reference format. If you have it on Beta SP, we support that also. For clients with Digibeta, we can come onsite to capture your SDI video on our mobile station.

Turnaround for DVD encoding services is typically one week. Other services may take longer. We also offer DVD development, encryption and replication services.
